Sophie Christie

I am BACP-accredited psychotherapist with more than 18 years’ clinical experience supporting both adults and young people. My practice is integrative, blending attachment-based narrative therapy, systemic constellations, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and other evidence-informed approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.

Alongside my private work, I serve on several specialist teams:

  • Psychedelic Clinical Research – providing psychedelic-assisted therapy for a variety of mental health presentations.
  • Elite boarding-school counselling service – offering pastoral and therapeutic support to pupils.

Clients say I bring professionalism, warmth, and grounded presence to the room, along with a capacity to hold whatever emerges, from the most delicate feelings to the most tangled stories. I have the capacity to hold whatever you bring, with care, and compassion. I want to help you make sense of it, and use the pain and woundedness we all carry, to open up new ways of being in this world.

Away from work you’ll find me spending time running forest trails with my (wolf-like) dog and holding life with curiosity. I believe in our connectedness to nature and each other, and in sharing knowledge and information to build better communities.

I am passionate about the systems that exist in our societies, how they show up on the macro and micro level. It seems there is a great reorganising of the world at present, and with death comes new growth.

My Mission

To meet you exactly where you are.
To walk alongside you as we untangle the strands of your inner web.
To illuminate how your past and present relationships shape today’s patterns.
To offer a safe, spacious place where messiness and scribbled lines are welcome in a world that often demands neatness.
Together, we can listen for wisdom beneath the surface, invite new possibilities, and help you inhabit your life with greater ease, self-trust, and aliveness. Together we can make space for the parts of you that are kept hidden, and bring them out of the shadows, into the light. Together we can hold the suffering that each one of us carries.

As James Baldwin writes: “I do not mean to be sentimental about suffering- but people who cannot suffer can never grow up, can never discover who they are”.

So here’s to growing up, to holding suffering and turning it into gold.
