The Roles We Play - courtesy of Nick Nick Luxmoore Psychotherapist

We all play roles. Most we have chosen as children, because we got what we needed from playing them - attention - whether positive of negative. We hold on to those roles, they become us, and who we are in the world. Often, this works a treat, but sometimes, the roles become too confining, and there is the need to break out.

This artcle was written by Nick Luxmoore, school counsellor, trainer and author. It is centred around the roles young people play, however, I would say its very applicable to adults. Being an adult, does not mean we are free of roles, quite the opposite, it often means our roles are more imbedded.
